Blessing of the Fisheries 2016
The Blessing of the Fisheries took place on Sunday 26th June 2016. The Fisheries were blessed by The Right Reverend Peter Wheatley, former Bishop of Edmonton, during a service on Folkestone Stade at 3.15 pm, following the traditional procession from St. Peter’s Church. The Worshipful Town Mayor of Folkestone, Councillor Martin Salmon, led the procession of the Cinque Port Mayors, several of whom were present.
We were blessed this year by an excellent turnout from the local chapter of the Guild of the Servants of the Sanctuary. The hymn singing was accompanied by a lone organist, after the Salvation Army Band were obliged to cancel their booking at short notice. After a return procession and short service in the Church, refreshment was enjoyed by all!
